Make It Real: July 2013

Question:   I just don’t understand why I lost my job, as a Christian I prayed and asked God for favor.  I give when I have a little extra and I attend church almost every Sunday.  Over all I do not sin.  My company was downsizing but the other two employees in my department were not dismissed and they are not Christians!

Many Christians expect the favor and promises of God without actually being obedient to God’s Word.  It is by faith that we receive the promises of God.  Faith is developed as our relationship with Jesus, the Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit grows and matures.  God is real and desires a relationship with His children.  The Holy Spirit will reveal the truths from God’s Word as we seek to know God.    Also we will encounter God as His Presence saturates our beings during worship and anointed meetings.  As we mature in God, we will actually feel His Presence even in our own prayer times.

A young couple recently miscarried a baby and wanted to understand why such a horrible thing could happen to them.  I was instructed by the Holy Spirit to share Matthew 6:33-34.  It states:

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Then do not be anxious for tomorrow.  For the morrow will be anxious of itself.  Sufficient to each day is its own trouble.

If you follow the teaching of Jesus in Matthew 7: 7-8 you will find:

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For each one that asks receives, and the one that seeks finds; and to the one knocking, it will be opened.

The teaching continues to reveal that God is a good Father and He does more than the natural father can do.  We have a faithful Father and an awesome Lord that has paid with His own suffering for us to live a life of joy and abundance.  The Holy Spirit has been sent to live inside of our beings to actually lead us into a relationship that will absolutely change your heart and attitudes.  You will become more than just one serving God here on earth, but really become one with God in the spirit realm.

When I asked this young couple if they truly felt that they were seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness as their first priority in life, they both admitted that they attended church weekly but never gave God first place in their day to day life.  I shared about the awesome life in Christ that awaited them if they would ask the Holy Spirit to make seeking the Kingdom of God their priority.  God wants to teach us about His Kingdom and the ways of His Kingdom.  Holy Spirit will sanctify us and truly make us Holy and in right standing with God.  The enemy will lose every scheme he sends to destroy us.  Even for this young couple, they experienced the faithfulness of God at the burial of their young infant when family members and friends, heard the truth about heaven.  Their eyes have been opened to the heavenly realm and they are hungry to know and understand God and His ways.  Both feel a call to ministry!

So for the person who did not find favor with their job, I would ask you the same question:  Do you truly seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness?  Are you constantly reading the Word to learn about His ways and His character?  Do you ask the Holy Spirit to sanctify you as you choose to renew your mind in His Word? Is heaven more real to you than this world?  God has a powerful and joyous relationship waiting for each of us.  His promises and favor will follow us as we truly follow Him.

Make seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness your priority.  Holy Spirit will gladly embrace you as you draw near to God and you will become one running after God and the things of His Kingdom.  Find a church that truly embraces a real relationship with Jesus, the Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit.  Find teaching that is anointed and helps you grow in your understanding of the Kingdom of God.  Go to conferences and meetings where His Presence saturates the place and holiness results.  Ask, seek and knock and He will show you His faithfulness.
